Abandonment

Spring 2014-Present

Pigment prints: 11" x 17"

Abandonment features portraits of seemingly empty spaces. Evidence of the past can be traced through the rubble-ridden floors and dusty window sills. Throughout the series monochromatic, neutral tones are juxtaposed with dramatic light play. The series draws inspiration from Dorothea Lange’s Depression-era documentary photography for the Farm Security Administration. Although the series explores a variety of locations, the inspiration for Abandonment is strongly rooted in the abandoned shacks along the historic Route 66 of the Mojave Desert.
